University of Makeni

The University of Makeni (UniMak) is Sierra Leone's first private university, currently serving a student population of 5,019 and offering 35 programmes of study at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including PhD programmes. The university, founded in 2005 by the Catholic Diocese of Makeni, promotes academic excellence, social justice, and sustainable development. Guided by Catholic social teaching, UniMak seeks to foster sustainable human, social, political, and economic development in Sierra Leone and across Africa, all while respecting the environment to ensure its resources benefit everyone.
