Image May 07, 2025 The kick-off Meeting of the two new international projects leaded by the University of Alicante, SLEEK and TANZIE, took place at our campus from May 6th to 7th. This was followed by the corresponding Study Visits from May 8th to 9th, designed to provide firsthand insights into the University’s best practices. SLEEK is a project focused on fostering entrepreneurial pedagogy in universities across Sierra Leone, promoting innovation in higher education. Meanwhile, TANZIE is aimed at strengthening the internationalization of selected higher education institutions in Tanzania through institutional development, improving the quality of teaching, research, and international cooperation. One of the key objectives of the joint KoM and informal coffee breaks was to foster intercultural dialogue among participants from both projects, boosting the possibilities of the creation of collaborative agreements between institutions. The first day began with a joint session with the institutional welcome of Carolina Madeleine, Director of the Institutional Project Management Office, and Juan Llopis, Director for Institutional Relations and Projects at the University of Alicante. An Icebreaker activity followed, aimed at encouraging participants to get to know each other and appreciate their diverse cultural backgrounds, by the performance of a group game based on questions about the diverse cultures and the projects. Following the agenda, the event continued with a series of presentations on the Erasmus+ Capacity Building Higher Education project, and a panel discussion about the Role of Higher Education Institutions in Addressing Global Challenges. Panelists included Charles Kilhampa, Miriam Conteh-Morgan, Samagat Yemekbayev, Christophe Tarrase, Paul Wamba and Javier Jiménez Molina, a University of Alicante student and the T4EU ambassador. This discussion gave the opportunity to the panelists, that came from different parts of the world, to express how they would address global challenges and which are the barriers that they have identified, in order to seek solutions to get over them and achieve their objectives. The second day, it was dedicated to reviewing the planned activities for each project to ensure effective implementation. Project partners delivered formal presentations of their respective institutions and engaged in intensive sessions to review the Work Packages, clarify responsibilities, and refine management procedures. Several strategic decisions and discussions were held to align the projects with their objectives and ensure their successful execution In conclusion, the successful launch of the SLEEK and TANZIE projects at the University of Alicante marked a significant step toward fostering international collaboration in higher education. The event not only provided a strong start for the projects with detailed planning and discussions, but also created a dynamic space for intercultural exchange and mutual learning.
